Entwined Ecologies is led by Jonquil Crosby, M.E.S., R.P. Bio, a professional biologist with over two decades of experience across British Columbia’s coastal and interior ecosystems; through Alberta and Ontario, and internationally.
With experience spanning amphibian surveys to badger tracking, Roosevelt elk research to offshore aerial marine mammal monitoring, Jonquil is a true field and applied research biologist; she has held senior roles within First Nation governance, upheld watershed security standards as a private watershed biologist, and has worked for the Smithsonian Institution alongside an International research team. Jonquil brings a fulsome understanding of how dynamic ecosystems and ecological work is implemented within real world, decision making contexts.
Jonquil holds a Masters degree in Environment and Resource Studies (UWaterloo), a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies, double major (UVictoria), as well as a Technical Diploma in Biological Sciences Renewable Resources (NAIT).

Raised in British Columbia's rural Cariboo Chilcotin Region, Jonquil currently splits her time between 100 Mile House, within Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation territory, and Vancouver Island, in the areas of Nuu-chah-nulth territory.

Devon created a machine learning program capable of camera trap image classification and filing for specified classes of wildlife. This program has fractioned the time required to process the tens of thousands of photos taken within large camera arrays.

Jonquil has flown with the West Coast Wild crew since 2020; first with past, long-time owner, Louis Rouleau, then with pilot Jenia Rubel, and recently, new owner, Josh Hartikainen.
Jonquil performed a three-year, bi-weekly offshore WCVI marine mammal survey with WCW, after first hired as an aerial creel surveyor and volunteering for herring spawn surveys. All posted aerial marine mammal photos were taken in a team effort with the WCW pilots.
